Aerospace Grade PVD Coating
The Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) process is used by Bailey of Sheffield for the coloured CABLE™ bracelets and beads.
PVD is a complex process, primarily used in aerospace and Formula 1 applications. During the colouring procedure the high purity, solid coating material (metals such as titanium, chromium and aluminium) is deposited by electron beam or magnetron evaporation. This forms a compound with the metal vapour which is deposited on our components as a thin, highly adherent coating. A uniform coating thickness is obtained by rotating the parts at a constant speed about several axes within the PVD chamber.
Our Petrol colour is totally unique to every single component we manufacture. It can range from Green, to Blue, Purple and even tones of Gold. Due to the nature of the PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process for this colour we are proud to confirm that no two components will ever look the same.
Another unique characteristic of the Petrol PVD is that over the course of time the colour will slowly change from blues/greens and purples through to lighter tones finishing at a gold colour.
